MAINTENANCE

Keep your blinds fresh and clean  and looking their best, here’s how its done

Maintaining your blinds

On order to keep your Blindology Blinds looking their best, we have a few recommendations. Blindology Blinds are designed for a long life of trouble-free service. By following these simple care instructions you will keep the blind looking good for many years.

We recommend that the all types of Blindology Blinds should be regularly dusted with a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with appropriate brush attachments.

Washing

Certain fabrics can be washed as follows: Now discontinued.

  • Take the Louvres off the head rail and remove the bottom weights and chains. Roll the Louvres together carefully and allow them to soak in warm water (max. 30 degrees) mixed with a suitable amount of liquid detergent. Stir the water gently by hand to release dissolved dirt. Then rinse the Louvres in clear water and then hang them up to dry, preferably on the head rail.
  • If your chosen fabric is machine washable, again, take the Louvres off the head rail and remove the bottom weights and chains. Roll the Louvres together carefully in one complete roll, then put into a pillow case, ensuring that the louvres are placed in the bottom, tie a knot as close as possible to the Louvres, (this stops the Louvres from moving around in the pillow case). Put into your washing machine on a 30 degrees wash (with no spin cycle, as this will damage your fabric). Ideal setting is a delicate wash, once completed you can carry on as below.
  • Take care not to fold, bend or crumple the Louvres, and avoid tumble-drying, spin drying, dry-cleaning and bleaching.
  • Hang them up to dry, preferably on the head rail. (You can put a towel on to the floor or window ledge to soak up any moisture/drips.)

Cleaning

The louvres will benefit from regular dusting with a feather duster, carefully brushing with a soft brush, or by using a vacuum cleaner set on low/lowest suction power. They can also be gently wiped with a damp cloth that has been thoroughly squeezed out.

Iron

Washable fabrics can, if necessary, be ironed using a steam iron on a medium setting. We would recommend using a towel to stop any stains from transferring from your iron onto the fabric.

Wood Venetain Blinds

  • If required the Wooden valance and slats can be carefully wiped with a damp, squeezed sponge without detergent to remove any stubborn dust or marks, taking care not to get the ladder braid or woven tape wet.

  • We recommend that the blinds be regularly dusted, which is best achieved with a vacuum cleaner fitted with the soft brush dusting head. A feather duster can also be used.

Aluminium Venetian Blinds

  • This type of Blind can be cleaned with a soft brush/sponge and lukewarm soapy water. Rinse with clear water, to which a small amount of a dishwasher rinse aid has been added. (This helps the blind to dry without watermarks).

  • Please note: Before you start: Remove the end caps from head and bottom rails, so that all moisture can drain away.

Roller Blinds

The Roller blind fabric will benefit from regular cleaning by dusting with a feather duster, carefully brushing with a soft brush, or by using a vacuum cleaner set on low suction power.

Small stains can be removed as follows:

  • Gently wipe with a cloth, which has been immersed in warm water (max. 30 degrees) with liquid detergent added, and thoroughly squeezed out.
  • Then wipe several times with a cloth rinsed in clear water and squeezed out. Repeat the treatment until the stain is gone.
  • Lower the blind and let it dry.
